For me, doubles are personal. They connect me to my dad’s family from Trinidad, to the stories, flavors, and traditions passed down through them. Growing up, it was something I always looked forward to—being with my cousins, laughing, sharing food, and knowing doubles would be part of it. It wasn’t just about eating, it was about togetherness, about feeling like I belonged to something bigger. Those moments stayed with me and became part of who I am. Cooking has become a way for me to give that feeling back. Feeding my family isn’t just about meals—it’s healing. It’s in the preparation, the repetition, the sharing. It’s in knowing that something made with your hands can comfort someone else, even on their hardest days. Through cooking, I reconnect with where I come from and who I am.Now, I’m taking that tradition and turning it into something that can help others. My pre-made doubles are designed to be easy and accessible—made ahead and frozen, they go from freezer to plate in just 10 minutes. They hold onto the same flavor and spirit, while fitting into busy lives. It’s about keeping tradition alive in a way that works today.This is more than a product. It’s a way to raise funds, to support my community, and to share a piece of my upbringing with others. Every doubles made and shared carries that same intention: to nourish, to connect, and to heal—one meal at a time.
